Lets rant about animal testing. Look at this mouse. You think he like having a giant ear growing out of his spine? The question I should ask is this, and I'm going to ask it as loud as possible in writing to make my point come across to you people: WOULD YOU LIKE IT IF YOU WERE INJECTED WITH ELEPHANT DNA AND IN A MONTH OR SO, THERE WAS A GIANT EAR GROWING OUT OF YOUR SPINE? Sure you'd have amazing hearing, but come on! An elephant ear? Growing out of a kid's spine?
You: Hey Mrs. Johnson! Heres last night's homework.
Mrs. Johnson (your teacher): What is that growing out of your back?
You: It's an African elephant ear. It's the new fashion. You like?
Animal testing is cruel. This mouse would make a good pet, and instead of selling it at PetSmart, they're growing it a human ear. Picture this in your mind:
Mommy mouse and Baby mouse are at the mouse mall, Christmas shopping.
Baby Mouse: Mommy! Look! it's Mister Santa Mouse! Let's go say hi to him!
Mommy Mouse: Okay.
(Baby Mouse and Mommy Mouse stood in line for twenty minutes until they got to Santa Mouse)
Baby Mouse: (Sitting on Santa Mouse's lap) Mister Santa Mouse, this Christmas, I want a scientist to take me to an animal testing lab. Then I want them to inject me with human DNA so I can grow a human ear on my back!
Well, Baby Mouse, your wish came true! And what a wonderful Christmas it was!

Okay im trying to leave a comment! Hey alisa visit me in ca!
HAHA!
I think that animal testing is cruel. If they really want to test stuff, why not test it on volunteering humans? It is really cruel to just do that to innocent animals who are just trying to live!
And that is a pretty cruel picture of a mouse, kind've disturbing.
i kno but its the best thing i can find on the internet. everything else is photoshop. How i kno, dont ask
i despise animal testing!!! why do they do it? i think its really stupid!!!
scroll down guys, I hav a new post, but its at the bottom of the page for sum reason. Its called "Stupid People"
STOP ANIMAL TESTING NOW!!!!!!!!
Scrol down. there's a new post. sry its not @ the top. It hapened that way
Animal testing is really cruel, I once saw a picture of a bunny with red eyes because chemicals had been sprayed on it. We are better then this! I'm sure we wouldn't like it!!!
im not doing anything to animals and on 1/21/09 and go to crazydude-raoul.blogspot.com
Animal testing is cruel and I do not agree with it but it does raise a few questions I would like answers to. If we were to stop animal testing then what would we do testing on? People? Do you think any of the people with the organization PETA would take the animals place in testings? Some products, not all, need to be tested. I do not agree with animal testing and I wish there was another alternative but it doesnt look like there is.
Animal testing is necessary. Saying "How would you like it if it was done to you?" is not an argument. It's not even a convincing idea. Humans are the only animal on the planet capable of thought. The mouse can't complain, the mouse doesn't have friends, real family, life connections, a job, aspirations, obligations, and so on. No animal on this plant is aware and knows what's going on. The problem is, you all think a mouse is like a human being, capable of emotion, intelligent thought and so on. It's not true. If animal testing was banned, a huge part of medicine research would come to a complete halt. And whoever says animal testing is horrible and should be banned. Think of this, next time you or your loved one gets sick, don't buy medicine, because a ton of little animals suffered so you could have it. Just don't get it, don't be a hypocrite. Instead... Die.
You people use animals on a day-to-day basis. Leather seats in a car? Boots? Shoes? Food? And a LOT more.
Think about it.
First of all:
Who are you, Gray Fox???
Second:
I really don't want to say this because I'm a pretty stubborn person (my friends would know, lol), but I agree.
Um, the mouse's DNA wasn't altered... You should do your homework before you rant and rave about something you obviously know nothing about.
This is unbelievably cruel. And Levi, how can you argue with the technicalities? The activity itself is immoral and unnecessary. I think that you, and Gray Fox, should be ashamed. How can you not condone the actions of the people who do this?
Just because the animals aren't capable of emotions, and aspirations, doesnt meant that they can't feel pain. They feel fear, they feel pain, the get stressed out. It is cruel, whether you people want to admit it or not. It HURTS! Whether you research animal testing or not, common sense tells you that these are living breathing creatures. They're capable of thought such as problem solving, whos to say that thats where it ends. NO ONE knows how animals think, NO ONE knows if they have emotion, and we probably never will know. Whether they feel emotion is not the problem. The problem is that they have nerves, they feel pain, and the argument that we wouldn't have the medicine that we have today without animal testing is also untrue. Research indicates that majority of the test results from animals do NOT match the results on human specimens. The anatomy is completely different, so there is almost no way that you could compare a test result from a rat, to a test result from a human. Next time you try to look smart and scientific, maybe you should research it first Gray Fox
Another thing to think about is that for those of us who do eat meat, there are many restrictions on how the animals must be slaughtered. The have to do it humanely, and its over quick, they don't sit there and poke the animals with needles continuously, they don't put stuff in their eyes, or on their skin, they just kill them. For those of you who think that animal testing is ok just because we eat the animals and make clothes and shoes from the spare parts, you're WRONG. At least the animal isn't suffering for long periods of time, or put under a large amount of stress, while excrutiating pain is put on the animal. It's over fast, and usually painlessly. It's not the same, and just because we eat the meat and use the spare parts of the ALREADY DEAD animal, doesnt mean that we're hypocritical for disagreeing with the inhumane testing on the animals.
i dont agree with animal testing for skin care products but for drugs that can save lives it is alright.
I am working for Lush (a company that doesn't support animal testing for cosmetics, uses organic ingredients, fair trade ingredients, and proven, safe synthetics) and researching some ingredients that were used in some of the products that were against animal testing brought me to this page. To the user who said that humans do not know if other animals are capable of thought: they aren't. Our brains are different because we have the frontal lobe which is capable of thought, emotion, ect. But this is beside the point of discussion: I can understand why the medical field needs to test things. I'd like to know if the drug I was taking ultimately caused complications. The thing is, they can make the testing more humanized and remodel the standards that they have now. I think that would be an important step to making sure that everything is as safe as possible. As for other tests (cosmetics, ect.): there are other ingredient alternatives. If you are a cosmetic company and you want to use an ingredient that you NEED TO TEST, then maybe you shouldn't use that ingredient? There are stupid tests out there, too. Clorox (bleach company) is inclined to do hundreds of tests each year to see the effects of ingesting bleach. The results are always the same. We get it; don't drink bleach. Remember also, people, that whatever you see on the Internet, can be photoshopped for interest's sake. :) Always check facts ect. before making a decision. But yes, make the testing standards more ethical, and rework the number of tests needed (Clorox example) or just take out testing completely and use different ingredients that are not synthetics that haven't been on the market for years and have been proven to be safe.
"It's over fast, and usually painlessly. It's not the same, and just because we eat the meat and use the spare parts of the ALREADY DEAD animal, doesnt mean that we're hypocritical for disagreeing with the inhumane testing on the animals."
I am not vegetarian, and I do not plan to be vegetarian. Every animal consumes things on earth- there's just no way around this. But there are some practices in the food industry that I think should be discontinued. Practices such as force-feeding a goose in order to expand it's stomach and put stress on it's liver- which is a delicacy in some areas of the world. That is inhumane. But as Lindsey said, the meat and clothing industries do not make the end result to be painful, or purposefully painful in any way.
Yes, animals can feel pain, but I think that by use of anesthetic, that can be avoided for testing in the medical fields. I think that testing is necessary for safety purposes in the medical field, but not for other fields (cosmetics, synthetics, ect.), because as I said before: if you need to test the ingredient, don't use it. Although some people may argue that that would put a halt on production, ingenuity, ect. :P There's really no way around things, is there, without upsetting some party.
